Lives and works in London

Arthur Bloye is a London-based figurative painter whose luminous oil portraits explore identity, memory, and the quiet drama of domestic life. With a sensibility rooted in storytelling and a brush that leans toward the poetic, Bloye’s work evokes the emotional textures of contemporary life through richly coloured, intimate scenes. His paintings draw on historical references from the Medieval, the Renaissance, and the Pre-Raphaelites, while remaining firmly grounded in the present.

Arthur studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, following a foundation year at Camberwell College of arts. His early education at The BRIT School and Langley Park Sixth Form laid the foundation for his cross-disciplinary interests in visual culture, media, and language — all of which continue to inform his painterly vocabulary.

Bloye’s work has been exhibited at the Mall Galleries (2015), Tate Exchange (2018), Central Saint Martins (2019), and in exhibitions with art-K, including Altered Perspectives (Peckham Levels, 2023) and Blended Journeys (OXO Tower Wharf, 2024), and in 2023 he participated in the Guinness World record for most portraits painted simultaneously.

Since 2021, he has taught and managed the Beckenham branch of art-K, where he fosters creativity among a new generation of artists. His teaching practice reflects the ethos of his art: sensitive, generous, and grounded in the belief that visual language is a powerful tool for personal expression.
